It’s been over three years. Three years! What can happen in three years of absence from a blog? SO much.
As I prepare myself for another term of turmoil in my classroom with an intresting collection of personalities and tasks, I should be spending my spare moments of “me” time planning, researching, preparing and instead… for some unknown reason – I tried to remember the address of distant blog. I honestly didn’t think it still exististed – shut down due to inactivity or neglect maybe? But here I am … and ironically here you are.
Ok – nitty gritty – What can really happen in three years? We bought a house. We got engaged. We threw a surpise wedding at our engagement party. We fell pregnant and 9 months later welcomed our beautiful baby girl into our lives. I went back to work and now… here we all are much older, much more sleep deprived, I’d like to think wiser however I truly do believe the curse of baby brain stays with you for much longer than all those experts say…
Photography?? What’s that? I was the go getter and I thought that when my baby was born, it would be the most photographed child in the universe… brace yourself… I did not take the Nikon out of it’s bag for over 12 months. I’m certain it had something to do with the convience of the phone in the hand at all times which meant that all of my photographs (at least 20 bazillion each day) were the easiest and therefore best way to document her life…
But what about the rest of it all?
For over 12 months now, my brother and his now wife, have been coming to our house twice a week to create their DVD masterpieces of events important to them. It started out as an opportunity to complete a 4 hour slide show of their trip to the U.S.A. which once completed then turned into a wedding DVD and now… 2014, 2015 and the collation of images through 2016. It was then that I realised, after Z was born in 2014… my photos of everything ELSE in my life… stopped. Camping trips, family get togethers, LIFE in general or even just my beloved nature shots… it all just stopped.
Now the question… how does one return to blogging? To keeping track of and documenting thoughts and publishing images that you’re proud of – let alone processing them or even just taking them off the memory drive…
Can I even do this again? There’s got to be an app right…
