Haven’t things changed…

It’s been over three years.  Three years!  What can happen in three years of absence from a blog?  SO much.

As I prepare myself for another term of turmoil in my classroom with an intresting collection of personalities and tasks, I should be spending my spare moments of “me” time planning, researching, preparing and instead… for some unknown reason – I tried to remember the address of distant blog.  I honestly didn’t think it still exististed – shut down due to inactivity or neglect maybe?  But here I am … and ironically here you are.

Ok – nitty gritty – What can really happen in three years?  We bought a house.  We got engaged.  We threw a surpise wedding at our engagement party.  We fell pregnant and 9 months later welcomed our beautiful baby girl into our lives.  I went back to work and now… here we all are much older, much more sleep deprived, I’d like to think wiser however I truly do believe the curse of baby brain stays with you for much longer than all those experts say…

Photography??  What’s that?  I was the go getter and I thought that when my baby was born, it would be the most photographed child in the universe… brace yourself… I did not take the Nikon out of it’s bag for over 12 months.  I’m certain it had something to do with the convience of the phone in the hand at all times which meant that all of my photographs (at least 20 bazillion each day) were the easiest and therefore best way to document her life…

But what about the rest of it all?

For over 12 months now, my brother and his now wife, have been coming to our house twice a week to create their DVD masterpieces of events important to them.  It started out as an opportunity to complete a 4 hour slide show of their trip to the U.S.A. which once completed then turned into a wedding DVD and now… 2014, 2015 and the collation of images through 2016.  It was then that I realised, after Z was born in 2014… my photos of everything ELSE in my life… stopped.  Camping trips, family get togethers, LIFE in general or even just my beloved nature shots… it all just stopped.

Now the question… how does one return to blogging?  To keeping track of and documenting thoughts and publishing images that you’re proud of – let alone processing them or even just taking them off the memory drive…

Can I even do this again?  There’s got to be an app right…

Back to it…

As 2012 came to a close, I received an email from WordPress showing me my “blogging year in review”. Lets just say it was less than impressive 😉

Wow! I feel like the last time I posted something here I claimed that I was back in blogging mode and would be posting more frequently … That was a year ago!

In my defense, I have been a little busy:

– We bought a house!!!! And attempted to renovate it (which actually means that we painted what we painted and we still need to paint some more and when we can afford to rip out some cupboards that can be relplaced … We will).

– We got engaged!!!! Keith decided that people don’t usually get engaged over breakfast so after serving me eggs one morning dropped to a knee and asked … Just after I had stuffed my face!

– Im an Aunty!!!!! Ok so this one isn’t really a valid reason for not blogging but it’s still super exciting news. Harper Ruby arrived in the 3rd of February! (That makes her just over 12 weeks!)

– Xmas holidays to Adelaide! We received some very sad news this past Saturday morning as Keith’s Grandmother passed away. I’m so pleased that I was able to meet this amazing woman when we visited at the end of last year. Adelaide, although lovely – is very different to ‘home’.

– … Yep that’s about it!

Sadly my photography has taken a back seat to other commitments this year and I’m finding myself becoming frustrated when u do pick up my Nikon — I feel that it may need a good ol’ fashion spruce up more than anything but I’m just not able to capture what I’m looking for. Maybe it’s just a slump??

In an attempt to get back in the groove I’ve decided to jump back onto Instagram and working through Fat Mum Slim’s #fmsphotoaday challenge!

May begins tomorrow so here’s to taking a small amount if time each day to focus and find my Zen.

Sunday Morning

As Keith and I waited for the shops to open, we took a short Sunday morning stroll. With only my HDR pro app, snapped these quick ones.

Quote find for today

Stop waiting until you finish school,
until you go back to school,
until you lose ten pounds,
until you gain ten pounds,
until you have kids,
until your kids leave the house,
until you start work,
until you retire,
until you get married,
until you get divorced,
until Friday night,
until Sunday morning,
until you get a new car or home,
until your car or home is paid off,
until spring, until summer, until fall, until winter,
until you are off welfare,
until the first or fifteenth,
until your song comes on,
until you’ve had a drink,
until you’ve sobered up,
until you die,
until you are born again
to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy…

It’s been a while

This year is flying! I find myself struggling to find time to just sit inbetween school, social gatherings, and most of all renovating my *@&ing bathroom. Although I’m super excited about the next phase in my life, there are absolutely things I wish I had time for. I’m missing my friends. I travelled out to Charleville recently to photograph my first wedding and even though I was only there for 2 days, it was so great to catch up with some people who took the time to catch up with me.

I miss my friends in Melbourne ~ having spent almost every night for the last four years having the opportunity to chat to them … A busy life sometimes feels like neglect. It doesn’t seem to matter how often I make a mental note to contact them, LIFE gets in the way.

I joined a gym! Inspired by a birthday present from my brother and his fabulous girlfriend to climb The Story Bridge on a photography tutorial, I’ve been bitten by the bug to do something about my appearance.

All of these things rolled in together has resulted in me not taking photos for the fun of taking photos. I’ve been inspired recently by my cousin Dana who is participating in a 365 day challenge – a photo a day. Her pictures are amazing and I need to make more time for me. So – when my family and I took off on the May Day long weekend to Canungra, I took my camera with me.

This is just one of the shots I worked for one day — I’ll post more when I get the chance… must make time.

And the Supermoon from Saturday night:

Mt. Dandenog

Just for sharing! Spent the day with Keith, George and Caine and after ignoring what the moody Navman lady tired to tell us, we found ourselves here! This photo was taken on my iPhone and edited in an application called “befunky”. I believe I will good sir… I believe I will.
